The Nisswa area has many trails to tour that will give you an close look at the greatest things in our area. Our trails are open to walking, hiking, use of ATV's, biking and in-line skating. In the winter, our trails are use for snowmobiling and cross-country skiing which offers yet another view of our beautiful nature and wildlife.
Crow Wing State Park
Eight mile south of Baxter, this state park is located along the Mississippi River, the park offers 18 miles of hiking, overnight camping, and canoeing along the scenic river.
Foot Hills State Forest
Located about 34 miles northwest of Nisswa, this state forest is a popular recreation spot offering trails for hiking and ATV/OHV riding in the summer and cross-country skiing and snowmobiling in the winter.
Located right in Brainerd this park offers nearly 12 miles of trails for hiking and cross-country skiing. They provide many opportunities to view nature at its best and showcases a variety of flowers, trees and wildlife within the 500 acres of natural beauty.
Paul Bunyan Scenic Byway
The byway covers a 54-mile looped road route that travels both north around the Whitefish Chain and south along the north side of Pelican Lake. In addition to enjoying this drive-route, the expanded shoulder invites biking and in-line skating.
Paul Bunyan Trail This trail is 77.6-mile trail running right through Nisswa. Most of the trail is generally level so people of all ages can enjoy hiking or biking the trail. In the winter months this trail turns into a snowmobilers paradise. Neighborhood communities along the trail offer complete amenities such as dining, shopping, rentals, and lodging. Pillsbury State Forest
This forest is a treasure for outdoor lovers providing horseback riding, hiking, and biking trails that journey through the forest and past historic sites. Enjoy snowmobiling in the winter on miles of groomed, interconnected snowmobile trails.
